Description
Composition
Each ml contains: Sulphadimidine sodium BP 0.333 gm.
Indication:
Sulphadimidine sodium is a broad spectrum antibiotic which works against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria as well as protozoa. Bactidin vet injection is used in the treatment of following diseases in animal with highest success:
- Diptheria
- Pneumonia
- Foot rot
- Calf scour
- Bacterial enteritis
- Metritis
- FMD
- Ephemeral fever
- Joint ill
- Actinobacillosis
- Pasteurellosis
- Toxoplasmosis
Dosage and administration
Bactidin vet injection should be administered by intramuscular, subcutaneous or intravenous route. However in severe case it can be administered by intra-peritoneal route.
Animal | First Dose | Maintenance Dose

Cattle, Buffalo, Horse | 15-30 ml/50 kg body weight. | ½ of first dose for 3-5 consecutive days. |
Sheep, Goat, Cat, Dog | 1.5-3 ml for 5 kg body weight. | ½ of first dose for 3-5 consecutive days. |
Contraindication:
Bactidin vet is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to sulpha drugs.
Precaution:
Ensure adequate water intake during therapy of any sulphonamide. Intravenous injection should be given slowly.
Side Effect:
Includes allergic rashes, diarrhoea, dehydration, debility, loss of appetite, hypogalactia, digestive disturbances in ruminants and in other species depression, nausea, vomiting, crystalluria, haemolytic anaemia.
Withdrawal Period:
Meat & milk can be consumed 8 days & 3 days respectively after completion of treatment.
