MODE OF ACTION
Vitamin A: Important for reproduction, development and maintenance of epithelial cells. Develops resistance against infection and diseases.
Vitamin D3: Promotes intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorous. Essential for normal bone growth and development.
Vitamin E: Acts as a natural antioxidant and protects polyunsaturated fats in the body from oxidation. Enhances immune mechanisms of the body. Acts as an immunity booster by developing resistance against infections.
Cobalt: Helps in synthesizing vitamin B12 in the intestinal tract like ruminants and horses.
Copper: Acts as an alarmin or a danger associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule and stimulates innate immune cells via binding to pattern recognition receptors.
Iron: Iron is a critical component of the body. Its primary role is to store and transport iron (as myoglobin and hemoglobin) throughout the body.
Iodine: Iodine rapidly penetrates into microorganisms and oxidizes its key proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, eventually leading to microorganisms’ cell death.
Manganese: It is an important cofactor for many enzymes involved in energy and protein metabolism. Manganese is also required for mucopolysaccharide synthesis.
Magnesium: Magnesium is an essential electrolyte, acts as co-factor in numerous enzymes and involved in phosphate transfer, muscle contractility and neuronal transmission.
Selenium: Selenium serves as a cofactor for glutathione peroxidase and helps minimize oxidative damage through cellular metabolism. Selenium, in combination with vitamin E, protects cell membranes and organelles from peroxidative destruction. Thus, selenium can boost host defense and the immune system.
Zinc: As a trace mineral, zinc is a component in many enzymes such as carbonic anhydrase, alcohol dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, DNA/RNA polymerase etc., which affects the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and nucleic acid. Zinc is a component of thymosin, a hormone, which regulates cell mediated immunity. It also affects luteal function. Normal growth and repair are dependent on adequate zinc. Zinc is related intimately to the process of cell division.
