DESCRIPTION:
Tetramisole is a racemic mixture of levamisole and its enantiomer dexamisole, which is a specific inhibitor of tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP). This drug is used in veterinary to treat ascariasis and other worm infections e.g. hookworms. And also, is used as an immunostimulant (in that case it is used for longer periods of time). Tetramisole HCl inhibits parasitic worm growth by acting as an agonist to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors leading to paralysis.

Description

Indications
Tetramisole is intended for the treatment of different types of worm infections in Cattle, Swine and Poultry (Dictocaulosis spp., Haemonchosis spp., Bunostomosis spp., Oesophagostomiasis spp., nematodirus spp., Cooperiosis spp., Strogyloidiasis spp., Ascardosis spp., Metastrongilosis spp., Capillariasis spp., Heteracidosis spp. and Singamoz spp.).

Dosage and Administration
Large animals (Cattle, Sheep, Goats, and Swine): 1.5 gm per 60 kg body weight either with drinking water or mixed with feed.
Poultry: 0.15 gm/6 kg bodyweight with drinking water for 12 hours only.
Or, as per direction of Registered Veterinarian.

Contraindication
Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. Administration to animals with an impaired hepatic function is not recommended.

Precaution
Use only when recommended by the registered veterinarian. Once the product is mixed with water, it must be administered within the next 12 hours. For Oral use only

Drug Integration
Animals must not be treated within a period of 14 days before or after treatment with organophosphorus compounds. Also concurrent administration of pyrantel, morantel are prohibited.

Use in pregnancy and lactating animals
Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not confirmed. Use only when clearly necessary and of course assess and recommended by the registered veterinarian.

Withdrawal period
Meat: 7 days; Milk and eggs: 4 days.

Storage
Keep away from light, in cool and dry place.
Keep all the medicine out of reach of children.
