Description:Crotamiton is a topical scabicidal and antipruritic agent used for scabies eradication and for the relief of pruritus. Permethrin is an insecticide used to prevent infestation with Sarcoptes scabiei (scabies).

COMPOSITION
CROTAM PLUS® Each ml lotion contains Crotamiton BP 100 mg and Permethrin BP 50 mg.

PHARMACOLOGY
CROTAM PLUS® Lotion is a scabicidal and antipruritic. It is effective against Sarcoptes scabiei. It is used in pruritus and other skin infections. CROTAM PLUS® is available as a lotion for topical use.

INDICATIONS
CROTAM PLUS® lotion is used as it is used in urticaria due to allergy. Moreover CROTAM PLUS® lotion is also used to relieve the itching from insect’s bite.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
CROTAM PLUS® lotion is applied, after first bathing and drying, to the whole body surface below the chin, particular attention being paid to body folds and creases. It may need to be used once daily up to a total of 5 days to be effective.

USING INSTRUCTION
After bath and drying skin well apply CROTAM PLUS® lotion from the chin down throughout the whole body, specially to folds and creases in the skin, hands, between fingers, toes and moist areas.
Patients of > 2 month of age can use the lotion.
It should be applied to the whole body excluding head. Reapplication is required whenever they are washed during this period.
Maximum 60 ml lotion can be used as a single dose.
CROTAM PLUS® lotion should not be applied to the vicinity of mouth and areas close to the eyes.
Dry-cleaned clothing should be used during treatment and change bedding in order to prevent reinfection.
As scabies is highly contagious other members of the family should use this medicine as preventive in the same way.

SIDE EFFECTS
In scabies patients, skin discomfort, usually described as burning, stinging or tingling occurs in a few individuals soon after the lotion is applied. Other transient signs and symptoms of irritation including erythema, edema, eczema and rash which may follow the treatment of scabies with CROTAM PLUS® lotion are generally consid¬ered to be the part of the natural history of scabies.

PRECAUTIONS
Nursing staff, who routinely apply CROTAM PLUS® lotion, may wear gloves to avoid any possible irritation to the hands.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
CROTAM PLUS® lotion should be used with caution because it may be harmful if swallowed or any contact with eye. CROTAM PLUS® lotion is contraindicated in patient who develops sensitivity to it. CROTAM PLUS® lotion is also contraindicated in inflamed skin.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
The treatment of eczematous-like reactions with corticosteroids should be withheld prior to treatment with CROTAM PLUS® lotion, as there is a risk of exacerbating the scabies infestation by reducing the immune response to the mite.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
CROTAM PLUS® lotion is suggested not to use during pregnancy. It is not known weather CROTAM PLUS® lotion is excreted in human breast milk. So it should not be used in nursing mothers.

STORAGE
Store lotion at or below 30° Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
