Description:
Pheniramine Maleate acts as H1 receptor antagonist by blocking the binding of histamine to its receptors on bronchi, nerves, vascular smooth muscle etc. and thus inhibits the activation of receptors and corresponding allergic symptoms produced by it. Moreover, centrally the drug also has some antimuscarinic activity.

COMPOSITION
Each ml contains Pheniramine Maleate BP 22.75 mg.

MODE OF ACTION
Ethista® Vet Injection (Pheniramine Maleate BP 22.75 mg) acts as H1 receptor antagonist by blocking the binding of histamine to its receptors on bronchi, nerves, vascular smooth muscle etc. and thus inhibits the activation of receptors and corresponding allergic symptoms produced by it. Moreover, centrally the drug also has some antimuscarinic activity.

INDICATION
Ethista® Vet Injection is indicated for allergy of diverse origins such as Cutaneous allergies, Urticaria, Angioneurotic edema, Relief of coughing, Laminitis, Allergic reactions to medicaments, Anaphylactic shock, Insect bites, Eczema, Pruritis and Photosensitization.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Method of Administration: IM/IV.
Dosage: 1 ml/25 kg body weight IM/IV for 3-5 days

Injection may be repeated after 8-12 hours, if necessary. The onset of action depends on the mode of administration. Mostly there is an immediate effect on IV administration; on IM administration, it takes about 10-20 minutes for the effect to set on. The dosages should be adjusted individually. If possible small doses should be given at first as it has been often seen that anti-allergic drugs are effective in comparatively small dosages.

CONTRAINDICATION
Ethista® Vet Injection is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to it. Ethista® Vet Injection should be used with caution in animals with high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, or at risk for urinary obstruction. Overdose can cause CNS stimulation or depression, anticholinergic effects, respiratory depression and death.

SIDE EFFECT
Common side effects: The most common side effect is sleepiness. Anticholinergic (dry mouth, urinary retention), diarrhea, vomiting, lack of appetite etc. may occur in some cases.
Rare side effects: Anaphylaxis, seizures, tachycardia.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Use in pregnancy has not been determined. However, risk and caution should be maintained during administration to pregnant and lactating animals.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat- 7 days and Milk- 2 days.

STORAGE
Store away from light in a cool and dry place.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
